New to Forensic Mental Health. – Forensic Mental Health

This six months programme has been prepared for you by a group of mental health professionals from Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar Pakistan and Sir Cowasjee Jehangir Institute of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences Hyderabad Pakistan. This certified programme is supported by the School of Forensic Mental Health (SoFMH) Scotland and The State Hospitals Board for Scotland.
Objective:
The new to forensic programme has been designed to meet the clinical and legal needs of professionals including Psychiatrists, Psychologists , Nursing and Allied Clinical Staff as well as professionals from Criminal Justice System.

Course Curriculum

Section: A Forensic Mental Health
The method of teaching will include on-line lectures and support by a mentor to facilitate your learning through reflective practice. All our mentors are trained by the School of Forensic Mental Health Scotland. They will provide supervision on a fortnightly basis.

Understanding mental disorders
Definitions and principles for mentally disordered offenders
Civil mental health legislations
Attitudes to mentally disordered offenders, personal emotions and boundaries
Psychiatric defences and legislation for mentally disordered offenders
Multi-disciplinary working
Assessment, treatment & management of mentally disordered offenders
Safety and risk of mentally disordered offenders

Section: B Essential of Psychological Care
The method of teaching will include on-line lectures and support by a mentor to facilitate your learning through reflective practice. All our mentors are trained by the School of Forensic Mental Health Scotland. They will provide supervision on a fortnightly basis.
